Before former President George H.W. Bush became the 41st President of the United States he went to college at Yale and was a pretty good defensive ballplayer. He was a lefty first baseman and also captain of the team when Yale appeared in the very first two College World Series which were played in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1947 and 1948.
Why Kalamazoo, Michigan? At the time, Western Michigan University’s Hyames Field was considered to be one of the finest baseball facilities in the country.
