Babe Ruth

On this day in 1935, Babe Ruth retired from baseball. He was trying to play one last year with the Boston Braves and had hopes of managing the team the next season. The manager’s job never materialized and The Babe was voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame as one of the first five inductees in 1936. The other four Baseball Hall of Fame inductees were – Ty Cobb, Honus Wagner, Walter Johnson, and Christy Mathewson.
